A check valve is the simplest type of directional control valve used in hydraulic systems. Check valves stop the flow of fluid in one direction and allow free flow in the opposite direction. They are also known as non-return valves.

These valves are used to block the cylinder in both directions. Flow is free in one direction and blocked in the reverse direction until pilot pressure is applied.

They are used on double acting cylinders.

Pilot check valves are used to block the cylinder in both directions. Flow is free in one direction and blocked in the reverse direction until pilot pressure is applied.

VBPDE（也有厂家标注型号为：DPOCV)先导式液压锁用于在进油、回油两个方向上锁住油缸。当先导油液没有施加在对侧方向的回路时，油液正向自由流动，反向截至，即为单向阀功能。当先导油液施加在对侧回路时，则正向、反向均可流动。（例如V1进油，C1出油。进入V1油口的油液分出一小部分，而此部分的油液即称为先导油液，该部分先导油液的压力足够打开V2至C2方向的单向阀，从而使得V1进油后，C1出油（比如C1后接油缸无杆腔），则C2进油V2出油。（C2接油缸有杆腔）

当V1和V2既没有油液进入，也没有油液排出时，该款液压锁对油缸进行保压。
